Smar Temperature Transmitter

The HNT40 is an ASIC-based smart temperature transmitter, available with 4–20 mA, HART and Modbus-RTU/RS485 output variants. Its measuring span covers -50 °C up to 400 °C, with reference accuracy held to ±0.5% full scale and long-term annual drift below 0.05%. Onboard surge protection is included, rated for 2000 V differential and 4000 V common-mode transient voltage. A backlit local LCD and pushbutton user interface are offered as factory options. The transmitter uses a fully sealed all-metal enclosure rated IP67 and carries Ex d IIC T6 Gb flameproof certification. Threaded and flanged process connections are both supported, allowing direct mounting to pipes, storage vessels and general process tapping points. Its thermal response time is ≤10 seconds when submerged in water flowing at 0.4 m/s.

This transmitter offers three output options: 2-wire 4–20 mA analog, 2-wire 4–20 mA with superimposed HART digital signalling, and 4-wire Modbus-RTU over RS485. HART enables digital data transfer layered onto the analog loop, supporting remote parameter setup and device diagnostics. The RS485 port provides direct connectivity to standard industrial bus infrastructure, with a maximum cable run of 1,000 metres.
 
An integrated backlit LCD is fitted for local operation. On-site operators can toggle engineering units between °C, °F and Kelvin, tune signal damping values, and pull up active diagnostic fault codes. All fundamental configuration tasks are accessible via local pushbuttons, removing the requirement for a separate handheld communicator and cutting dependency on external commissioning hardware.
 
The unit utilises a flameproof housing. Should an internal explosion occur, flame fronts are quenched and cooled as they travel through the enclosure's flange gaps, stopping ignition of surrounding flammable atmospheres. It carries an IIC gas rating, suitable for hydrogen and acetylene service, alongside a T6 temperature class that caps the maximum external surface temperature at 85 °C. This certification satisfies installation standards for high-hazard locations including refineries and coal chemical plants.
