2. Signal Transmission Method and Working Principle
The gear flow meter is a type of volumetric flow meter used for precise, continuous, or intermittent measurement of the flow rate or instantaneous flow rate of liquids in pipelines. It is particularly suitable for measuring the flow rate of high-viscosity media such as heavy oil, polyvinyl alcohol, and resins.
The flow meter chamber contains a pair of meshing gears as rotors. The two gears and the chamber can each form a fixed volume, called a standard volume. Flow rate is measured by calculating the number of standard volumes that flow through within a certain time period.
3. Measurement Principle
The gear flow meter is a high-precision flow meter for measuring volumetric flow rate. Its working principle is based on the positive displacement principle. The flow of the medium causes the gears to rotate. The rotation of the gears is scanned by two non-contact pulse detectors. Each tooth generates a pulse, ultimately producing a frequency signal proportional to the flow rate, from which the flow rate value Q is derived.
Gear flow meters feature high manufacturing precision, precise installation, and high resolution. However, gear flow meters require the measured medium to be lubricating and cannot measure non-lubricating media such as water. Meanwhile, gear flow meters are not suitable for fluids containing solid particles. If the measured liquid medium contains gas, it will also cause measurement errors.
